New Tomb Raider Lara Croft voice actor receives torch from Survivor trilogy star

Tomb Raider finally returned at The Game Awards, with Legacy of Atlantis planned to release in 2026 and Catalyst coming in 2027. Both games star the newest voice actor for Lara Croft, Alix Wilton Regan, who has been passed the torch by the voice actor for Lara in the Tomb Raider Survivor trilogy, Camilla Luddington.

The Tomb Raider Survivor trilogy started with the reboot in 2013 and continued with Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015 and ended with Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018. Camilla Luddington was the voice of Lara Croft for all three games, and she performed the motion capture, too. Besides voicing Lara Croft, Camilla Luddington is most famous for featuring in the Grey’s Anatomy television series, playing Dr. Jo Wilson for over 250 episodes.

Following the reveals of Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider Catalyst at The Game Awards on December 11, Camilla Luddington shared a farewell to the Tomb Raider community on Instagram. In the farewell, Luddington says she has “loved this fandom,” and that “To join the list of Lara Crofts before me was an incredible honor, and she will forever be a part of me”.

Luddington proceeds to pass the torch to Alix Wilton Regan, saying, “as always, a new actress receives this incredible gift to step into the boots” and “with that said… if you’re ever in need of a [bow emoji], I know the exact spot to look for one at Croft Manor”.

Who is the new voice actor for Lara Croft in Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst?

The new voice actor for Lara Croft in both Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst is Alix Wilton Regan. She is a British actress best known for voicing Samantha Traynor in Mass Effect 3, the female Inquisitor in Dragon Age Inquisition, and Alt Cunningham in Cyberpunk 2077.

In a message shared to her Instagram, Regan says, “Being revealed as Lara Croft is the absolute highlight of my career to date and has surpassed even my wildest dreams”. She ends her message saying, “thank you” and tells fans to “get excited”.

Legacy of Atlantis is another remake of Tomb Raider 1996, which was Lara Croft’s first-ever game, released on the PS1. Crystal Dynamics delivered a remake in 2007 called Tomb Raider Anniversary, which joined PS Plus Premium in November 2025 and is available on the PSN store for $20.

As for Catalyst, it is a completely new adventure taking place after the events of Tomb Raider Underworld, which was released all the way back in 2008. It takes place in Northern India, and it seems to perfectly align with leaks from mid-2024 describing it as an open-world adventure starring a “prime” Lara Croft racing against a Society of Raiders with gameplay features such as a motorcycle to traverse the open playground.

There is a live-action Amazon Prime series on the way, too, starring Sophie Turner, famous for playing Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, as Lady Croft. According to Story Kitchen, a producer of the show, both Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst share the same universe as the Amazon Prime series, which is scheduled to begin filming in January 2026.
